Utility Companies have a basic standard 'hookup & stayup' Service Charge/Month. Costs are billed irrespective of usage.

Utility Companies use Smart Meters (Peak Period Pricing), pricing per time of day: Max Cost 7am-10pm, Min Cost 10pm-7am.
 
Student Usage - Peak Periods & Wastage Factors - Lights left on, Computers left on 24/7, more people (friends incl) staying at the house and having 30 min showers & washing clothes & cooking, NOT cleaning the clothes dryer lint filter increases cost x 3, leaving storm doors & windows open, turning heat on and off frequently V letting it stay on to hold ambient temperature etc. USING Power at PEAK COST PERIODS 7am-10pm e.g. showers, clothes washing, dryer etc. The utility costs are ~ x 2 during 7am-10pm V min cost 10pm-7am period.





Leasing

Student Protection - Our off campus housing house & apartment rentals are only for group lease rent exclusively by student groups at McMaster University, Westdale, Hamilton. Students alone decide & live with trusted group-mates: no random people in houses or apartments. Landlord does not decide house mates.

• Group-Lease: 'Lessee' is a Group of one or more McMaster University Students.
• Lease-Term is 12-months: Noon 1st May to 30th April.
• Rent: $385 per member per month ($2310* per month for Group)
*Rent excludes all utilities.
